Massage Therapy Services Wichita KS

massage therapy wichita ks

There are many massage therapy options available to clients of Therapeutic Massage and Nutritional Center in Wichita, KS. Our services are custom tailored to the individual, to help you get lasting relief from chronic pain!

Most human activities are done in front of the body.  This causes the muscles, tendons and ligaments of the anterior body to be in a shortened state, which causes imbalances throughout the body.  Spasms begin to pull the body forward stretching the posterior muscles of the shoulders, neck and back.  Not only do normal daily activities become difficult, but if left untreated, the potential increases for other issues to arise throughout the body.

What to Expect:

Evaluation is the foundation for massage therapy techniques.  Through evaluation we are able to identify the source or root cause of the pain or condition that is being treated.  We believe that proper evaluation in conjunction with strategic therapy creates greater potential for correction instead of simply treating symptoms for short term relief.

The postural evaluation process looks at the alignment of the head with the rest of the body.  Ideally the alignment should provide a straight line from the ear down through the shoulder, hip, knee and ankle.  If the ear is forward of the shoulder by even 3/4 of an inch, the spinal column endures 35 pounds of load.  It is this load that causes strain on the muscles of the head, neck, shoulders and upper back.  If the ear is 1 1/2 inches or more forward of the shoulder there is an astonishing 100 pounds of load put on your spinal column, causing strain on the entire spine.

Massage therapy can provide tremendous relief for those suffering from headaches, neck and shoulder stiffness, hip, leg and back pain, posture problems, sports injuries, pregnancy discomfort, and/or body imbalances. Call today to schedule your appointment!

Massage Therapy Services

Massage therapy is beneficial to all. However, people need different types of therapy. We offer many specialized therapies and will tailor each massage to a client's needs during each session.

Swedish Massage
Relaxation techniques combining long strokes and lengthening stretches relax the muscles, calm the emotions, and recharge the immune system. Swedish massage promotes stress reduction and improves circulation, energizing the synchronized balance of the mind, body and spirit.

Postural Restoration Therapy

An integrative treatment approach that raises postural awareness and treats postural adaptations and imbalances reflecting asymmetrical patterns using in office massage therapy and at home muscle stretching in an effort to reach optimal alignment and functionality in addition to restoring plumb line posture.

Functional Integrative Balancing
Functional Integrated Balancing is a system of focused muscle release incorporating specific breathing techniques which release muscle spasm, increase oxygenation and blood flow to brain, limbs and internal organs. By integrating both sides of the body and the brain there is improved body function reducing symptoms, but more importantly restoring optimal health (mentally, physically and spiritually).

NeuroMuscular Therapy
NeuroMuscular Therapy (NMT) is a specialized therapy combining deep tissue massage techniques and body movement to bring balance between the musculoskeletal and nervous systems. NMT promotes recovery from acute structural and chronic pain issues, thereby improving joint and muscle movement. This focused approach to healing may require client involvement, such as home stretching.

Deep Tissue Massage
Deep tissue is a similar technique to NMT, but a more focused form of bodywork. Deep slow, compressive strokes release taut or knotted muscles, healing from the nerve-muscle connection, including tendons, and ligaments. This promotes the resolution of long-standing injuries that have caused limitations physically and emotionally.

Therapeutic Exercises
This medical massage therapy enhances fitness and well being. By addressing specific pain or dysfunction, this technique facilitates the rebuilding phase of conditioning which leads to faster healing of injuries by increasing range of motion and restoring normal movement function.

MyoKinesthetic System
The MyoKinesthetic System re-educates the muscles on a neurological level to accelerate the healing process by alleviating pain, increasing function/movement and balancing posture. This technique is effective against acute injuries. Sessions are usually 15 to 30 minutes.

Myofascial Release
This soft tissue therapy incorporates gentle sustained pressure and positioning, allowing for increased freedom of movement. It brings balance and relaxation to the entire body. Benefits increase when combined with other massage techniques.

Pregnancy Massage
Massage during pregnancy can improve circulation, alleviate muscle aches and fatigue and promote relaxation during constant trimester changes. Essential oils are used to increase oxygenation and induce a positive emotional presence required for a healthy delivery. Please consult your Doctor first!

Infant Massage

Parents are taught to massage their babies with the kind of touch that promotes bonding and attachment between them, which is key to the infant's physical and emotional development.

CranioSacral Therapy
The CranioSacral (CST) technique when performed by a Massage Therapist essentially helps the body release restriction with a 10 step protocol of evaluation. By using a variety of gentle techniques, therapy can help relax, free or unravel restrictions disrupted by trauma, restoring it back to its natural balance.

Eleanor’s personality is extremely positive in her work with patients. She is compassionate and has basic medical knowledge to understand some of the problems that patients were referred to her for…Our small community of Sutton greatly benefited by having Eleanor as part of our group.”
